The story of the place

Lake Awing, also called Lake Bambuluwe, is a crater lake perched at about 2,086 m, on the slopes of Mount Lefo, in the Bafut-Ngemba forest reserve. It lies in an old crater of the Cameroon volcanic line and is fed only by rain and by run-off from the hills around it. Source: Wikipedia.

How to get there

The pin on the map is approximate: trust these directions instead.

Near the village of Awing, in Santa council area, about fifteen kilometres from Bamenda. Ask about the situation and the state of the road before you leave.

Good to know

Entry and fees
On site, an access fee or a guide may be asked for, and prices change: agree on the price before you start.
Who to go with
In a group rather than alone, and if possible with someone who knows the way.
What to bring
Water, good shoes and something to cover up if it rains. Do not swim without asking local people first, and take your rubbish back with you.
